The origin
Joher Khan from Plum Soda reached out to me for this activation. They had a special spot inside the User Experience exhibit.
Plum Soda is in the business of producing the coolest merch for tech startups. They led the creative vision, and I managed the execution and operations of this. They brought me in because they’ve seen my work with Falcon (opens in a new tab) and among other folks.
Through this collaboration, I got to meet Mike Schwartz from Material Album, and we had two key things we wanted to test out:
- We wanted to create a merch rack where people could view merch almost from a museum perspective, but really feel like they were at a dry cleaner, for example. They could see things there.
- I managed an activation by Maddie Reese and helped set that up. It was a custom events activation where a person could walk up, take a quiz by answering emails and selecting options, and print out what type of ambitious founder they were.
- Supernovas was the other exhibit we ran in the same space. We highlighted different products over time that had garnered a lot of attention, but for one reason or another, the company or the founder fell off.
What I actually did
I set up the activation alongside Joher. I was physically present up until opening day, making sure the exhibits were set up, the clothes were taken care of, and all purchases needed for the event were handled. I also made sure the exhibits were documented and inventoried.
I set up the event activation with the custom computer that was connected to a Raspberry Pi.
I coordinated with Mike Schwartz on behalf of Plum Soda, and I also connected Material Album with photographers for their events in space.
